Meaning of the Grit and Grace Logo

The lotus is a symbol found in eastern religions.  It is analogous to the journey many of us as humans are on to open our hearts to the divine.  The lotus takes root in the mud at the bottom of the pond, then sends its stalk up through the dark water towards the light.  It breaks through the surface and the leaves rest on the surface as it blossoms to the sun.  Not only does it find sanctuary in the muck, but due to the waxy protection layer on its petals, its beauty is unaffected when it re-blooms each morning. It continues to resurrect itself, coming back just as beautiful as it was last seen. With such refusal to accept defeat, it's almost impossible not to associate this flower with unwavering faith.  It is a reminder that however imperfect our beginnings, whatever mistakes we make in our life, in our past, we are all on our journey to connect with our higher power and to reach enlightenment.  We will have troubles but we can begin again and again, and each of us can purify in our hearts to blossom fully.

"OM" is a sacred sound that is known generally as the sound of the universe. Om is all-encompassing, the essence of ultimate reality, and unifies everything in the universe. The vibrations that the Om sound creates are thought to energize the chakras throughout the body, especially the third eye and crown chakras, which help us connect with our Divine selves.  The Om sound is known as a seed mantra, which is chanted to connect with and energize the chakras. The Om symbol represents the sound in a visual form and has a lot of meaning behind it. The translation of OM generally means the light within me honors and acknowledges the light within you.
